  Samina will take us through the latest leading authorities when dealing with medical and health cases under Article 3 ECHR, looking at the relevant thresholds to meet as per AM (Zimbabwe) applying Paposhvili. Samina will also cover the do’s and don’ts of medical reports, looking specifically at the latest guidance in HA (Sri Lanka) in the context of mental health cases.
• Immigration Law Update Summer 2022 – Richard McKee (Retired judge of the Upper Tribunal) –
  A miscellany that includes the shifting burden of proof in ETS cases and resisting removal on private life grounds, but focuses on appeal procedures and costs
• “Delving into the requirements of the three new visa routes, the Global Business Mobility, Scale up and High Potential visa” – Sarah Pinder (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) –
  Sarah will provide a useful round-up of what we know so far on these new business and working routes. It’s now essential to be as up-to-date and prepared as possible in light of the various closures of previous routes, with most recently the Sole Representative and Investor options disappearing and the pressures arising from Brexit continuing.
• “Conducting Ahmadi Muslim asylum cases in the UK” – Qaseem Ahmed (Barrister 12 Old Square)-
  Considering the developing caselaw with respect to Ahmadi Muslims since MN & Others (2012). Exploring up to date country conditions in Pakistan and the merits of sur place claims in the UK. Top tips for preparing fresh claims under paragraph 353 of the Immigration Rules.
• “The Nationality and Borders Act 2022 redefining how we look at Asylum cases” – Jamila Hassan (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) –
  Continuing with the new Act, Jamila will provide an analysis of how the new Act and the SSHD seek to redefine who is a refugee and when the UK’s obligations are engaged, what this means in law and what we can do about it. Jamila will specifically look at the applicable standard of proof, the test relating to ‘Particular Social Groups’ under the Refugee Convention, exclusion criteria and, time permitting, removal of criminality safeguards.
• “An overview of the Nationality and Borders Act 2022” – Richard McKee (Retired judge of the Upper Tribunal) –
  including Asylum in Part 2, but ranging more fully over Nationality in Part 1, with a whistlestop tour of Parts 3 to 6
• “An initial guide to Inadmissibility rules, Notices of Intent and the Rwanda plan” – Kezia Tobin (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) –
  Kezia will guide us through the provisions of the new Act and how these transform the processing and consideration of protections claims, with specific emphasis on sections amending powers relating to procedure and evidence. Kezia will also provide practical tips on how to respond to notices served under the new provisions, including any relating to removals to Rwanda.
