• Deportation and Deprivation Richard McKee – (Retired judge of the Upper Tribunal) will survey the case law on deportation appeals which has burgeoned since the landmark case of HA (Iraq), and will also cover two important recent cases on deprivation of British citizenship, one a celebrated appeal at the Supreme Court, the other a masterly critique of the previous case law. |
• New Tribunal Procedures and MyHMCTS Sarah Pinder – (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) Sarah will take you through the new digital reform procedures for CCD immigration tribunal appeals and the new My HMCTS platform to ensure you remain up to date and are able to maximise your work performance. Time-permitting, Sarah will also cover a few updates relating to pending EEA appeals under the 2016 Regulations and new EUSS appeals, focusing on what to look out for now that the transition period is over and the Grace period will have ended on 30th June 2021. |
• How has BREXIT changed Immigration for EU nationals to the UK Samina Iqbal – (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) Samina will look at the new Skilled Worker Visas which was introduced to try and allow a more flexible route for employers recruiting in the UK following our exit from the EU. Samina will also look at a few alternative categories, which are open to EU nationals in specific circumstances. |
• Immigration Law Update summer 2021 Richard McKee – (Retired judge of the Upper Tribunal) will cover a wide range of topics, from appeal procedures to the Investor category to Long Residence to recent Immigration Rules to registration as a British citizen. |
• Home Secretary’s proposed changes to the Immigration and Asylum system Rehana Popal – (Barrister, 33 Bedford Row) |
• Immigration Law in the time of Covid Jamil Dhanji – (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) Jamil will review the various concessions in the Immigration Rules & Home Office policy that have been developed in light of the COVID pandemic and will look at some examples of how these concessions might operate in practice. Jamil will also discuss other arguments that might be available to individuals who do not meet the Rules due to issues related to the pandemic. |
