She will also cover practical tips in advising on and preparing these applications and appeals. |
• A Miscellany of Mistakes Richard McKee – (Retired judge of the Upper Tribunal) Some pitfalls and pratfalls in the preparation and execution of appeals |
• Long Residence with a sprinkle of ETS/TOEIC Update Sarah Pinder – (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) Recent case-law has made continuous lawful residence a difficult area on which to advise, especially when there are periods of s.3C leave and applications made within the 14 days “grace period”. Sarah will bring us up to date on this growing body of guidance and time-permitting, will also consider important principles and practice tips in ETS/TOEIC cases, as many of those are wrapped up in long residence now. |
•The UK’s New Immigration Rules Changes 2022 Overview Nishan Paramjorthy – (Head of Paramount Chambers) The home office has created a new plan called a new plan for immigration, a document that addresses those who want to apply for asylum and those who have entered the UK illegally. This talk will overview the consequences for those who enter illegally and whether those fleeing innocent citizens around the world. |

• Domestic Violence Applications and Challenges Jamila Hassan – (Barrister, GoldsmithChambers) As an immigration and family law practitioner, Jamila is best placed to take us through the latest practice concerning domestic violence applications and how best to prepare these. She will also cover the latest guidance on whether these applications attract a statutory right of appeal and if not, how best to deal with such challenges. |
• A Closer Look at Statelessness in the New Nationality and Immigration Bill Joseph Byrne – (Barrister, Goldsmith Chambers) Joseph will take you through the proposals relating to statelessness as they make their way through the House of Lords as part of the new Nationality and Immigration Bill. Joseph will also cover an overview of the relevant caselaw as it applies to nationality applications based on statelessness, with a particular emphasis on children registration applications. |
